October & November - Exhibition Frenzy!

Our usual Wednesday meetings for October and November were dominated by Exhibition activity for our Pilgrim Quilters 26th Exhibition. We had already been busy throughout the year with members making quilts to display, items for the sales table and Morsbags. Also donating fabrics and magazines, selling raffle tickets, distributing flyers and encouraging ur friends and families to come along. However the last meeting before the Exhibition was the final opportunity to make items for the sales table or add the hanging sleeve to a quilt. The exhibition itself - held over 2 days 31st Oct & 1st Nov was a fantastic event made possible by the kind efforts of many members and some of their long-suffering partners and husbands, who planned the layout and co-ordinated the stands, set up and took down the quilt display, made or provide cakes for refreshments. All the effort was worthwhile when we saw the smiles on visitors’ faces and heard all the complimentary comments and praise for the quality of our work, which was, once again, outstanding. Fundraising for our chosen charity took place at some of our meetings throughout the year and all funds raised at our exhibition went go to our chosen charity. Altogether we raised in total £6,400 for Maggie’s Cancer Centre - an incredible achievement by our members for a very worthy cause. Members also made 44 syringe driver bags plus some matching caps for the exhibition challenge and which are now with

the Royal Marsden Hospital to brighten the lives of those undergoing cancer treatment.
