We had the most interesting presentation yesterday by Amanda Cobbett, whose work is inspired by the nature around her. Using the skills she has developed over 30 years in the textile industry and artistic development she uses machine embroidery to create fascinating true to life natural objects and encases them in perspex boxes reminiscent of Victorian display cases.
The realistic art she creates is absolutely stunning and unlike anything you've ever seen. And they really need to be seen to be truly appreciated. Each piece she creates looks as if it has been freshly picked from nature, only when you look closely can you
see that it’s main components are thread and paper.
